The life of your tattoo depends on the care it receives during healing!

Day 1 (Day of tattoo)

Keep the bandage on for 4-24 hours. Remove the bandage and wash the tattoo gently with clean hands/fingertips and warm water – no washcloth or anything abrasive. Use gentle unscented, or antibacterial soap, such as liquid Dial. Make sure the tattoo is clean until it is no longer slimy. Splash with cold water then pat dry with a clean towel. Always let your tattoo dry about 15 minutes before applying any lotion. DO NO re-bandage your tattoo! Let it breathe with clean, loose clothing, or exposed to the air (Just not direct sunlight).

Wash your tattoo 2-3 times a day until fully healed (Usually around 2 weeks)

Days 2 & 3

Wash your hands and then your tattoo. After washing your tattoo, apply a very thin layer of A&D ointment to the tattoo 2 times a day.

Day 4 – 2 weeks

Discontinue use of A&D. Apply a light coat of a clean, fragrance free lotion such as Curel Original Unscented, or Lubriderm 2-3 times a day with clean hands, for at least 2 weeks, or until your tattoo is fully healed.

Always handle your tattoo with clean hands and don’t let people touch your new tattoo!

In a few days your tattoo will start to peel/exfoliate and the temptation to pick and scratch will be great. Don’t do it! DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR SCRATCH! Itching can me relieved by applying more lotion, or by gently slapping the tattoo. Use common sense. If it hurts, don’t do it.

During the healing process:

Wear loose, clean clothing.

DO NOT swim, sweat excessively, sauna or soak (Shower is fine)

DO NOT expose to direct sunlight.

Once healed, preserve your piece of art and always protect your tattoo with sunscreen of at least 30 spf.
